I absolutely hate Andy Schmitt. I really don’t care that Eastern Michigan’s football program is awful, and that their victory over Central Michigan on Friday afternoon was a monumental one. Schmitt, and his lackey Tyler Jones cost me a nice parlay bet, as they not only covered the NCAA football spreads, but won the game outright–56-52.

Schmitt completed FIFTY EIGHT (58) of EIGHTY (80) passes for FIVE HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN YARDS. Jones, the Eagles’ No. 1 receiver hauled in 23 catches for 170 yards on the day, and also took two snaps at quarterback for good measure.

Unbelievable.

Let’s hope Boise State, who is heavily favored on NCAA football odds as well, doesn’t blow it against Fresno State on the blue turf tonight.

With the college football season nearing the end and the NFL season entering the final quarter, there’s plenty of action this weekend that will keep me glued to the couch.

We’ve got the Civil War, with Oregon vs Oregon State betting, with a Rose Bowl berth on the line for Oregon State. We’ve got the Steelers vs Patriots odds in Gilette Stadium, which denotes AFC supremacy. And we’ve got the Jaguars vs Texans odds on Monday Night Football. Enjoy the latter game.

But here’s a shocker in what might be the biggest game of the weekend:

Everyone is talking about how much the BCS is going to factor in a potential tie in the Big 12 between Oklahoma and Texas but everyone is forgetting that there are Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State odds to deal with first.

I’m predicting Oklahoma State causes Bedlam and upsets Oklahoma this weekend in what is their biggest game in school history. This is their Super Bowl and they will be focused on putting on a show at their new stadium. The bye week should also help.

There’s lots of reasons to get excited for tonight’s Jets-Pats tilt. Two coaches that hate each other? Awesome. Football in the middle of the week? Yes, please.

But the best reason? Benjarvus Green-Ellis, who might own the best sports nickname of the past 20 years: “The Lawfirm.”The Lawfirm ran for 105 yards and a score last week, giving him touchdowns in four straight games.

Most sportsbooks have the Patriots favored by a field goal. I think they’ll cover; homefield advantage makes a big diff and Favre is turnover prone.

Plus New England has The Law on its side.
