Baseball betting players are getting ready to see what their teams have heading into spring training, but the NFL, players are looking to the draft to decide who needs what. We’re here to point you in the right direction for the first five teams.

Carolina

The Panthers were going to pick Stanford’s Andrew Luck, but the pivot decided to stay in school. A year after taking Jimmy Clausen, the Panthers probably still need a quarterback, but they’re just aiming for the best possible player.

Denver

The Broncos will likely go with a defensive back because, for whatever reason, they aren’t offering an extension to Champ Bailey, who just got sent to his 10th Pro Bowl and doesn’t look like he’s slowing down.

Buffalo

The Bills need help on either the offensive or defensive line, although a quarterback isn’t out of the question. The offensive line is the bigger need, but how far can they go with Ryan Fitzpatrick under center?

Cincinnati

The Bengals are a mess, and they have to figure out what they’re doing with Carson Palmer before they do anything. If they trade Palmer, they’ll like go for a quarterback, and they also have to see if they let go of Chad Ochocinco.

Arizona

Again, the Cardinals are looking for a quarterback, and they may decide on a player already in the league like Donovan McNabb or Kevin Kolb. But they have one of the best receivers in the league in Larry Fitzgerald and if they don’t get a pivot, we wouldn’t lay a sports bet on him staying in the desert.

Sunday January 2nd, 2011 is a huge day for the NFL betting world, as it marks the end of the regular season. Week 17 also marks the biggest game of the football betting season, as the NFC West division crown will be decided. In a year where Wild Card teams will have 10 or more wins, the NFC West is the one division where teams with a losing record, will qualify.

On Sunday, the NFC West will be decided the right way, as the game featuring the St. Louis Rams and Seattle Seahawks will literally be for the NFC West division crown. The games scenario works in a twofold manner. In one scenario, if the St. Louis Rams win the game outright or tie, they will finish the season with an eight and eight record, which will be good enough to win the division.

On the contrary however, the six and nine Seattle Seahawks who were legitimately destroyed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week only have to win the game against St. Louis to win the division. Although the win would give the Seahawks and Rams identical records of seven wins and nine losses, the Seahawks own the tiebreaker game, which in effect would give them the division crown.

Regardless of the outcome on Sunday, the winner of the game will appear as the sacrificial lamb to the second place NFC South squad, the New Orleans Saints or Atlanta Falcons. Whoever loses out on the NFC South, will still finish the season with a 12 and five record, and even though they will be the Wild Card team, will still be an over whelming favorite on the betting line.

However, with that said, we feel that the St. Louis Rams should win the NFC West Division, as they are a relatively healthy team in comparison to the Seahawks. What’s more, the Rams have given both the Saints and Falcons a run for their money, and perhaps stand the best chance at winning the Wild Card game.

NFL betting lines will be the big play of the week as there are a number of games that will have an effect on division races.

Broncos Chiefs Betting – Sunday, 1:00 PM ET

The Chiefs are favored by 9.5 points at home, and they’ll be eager for payback after the Broncos routed them 49-29 in Denver a few weeks ago. Kansas City is atop the AFC West, and their rival would like knock them down a peg. We can’t see it happening.

NFL Picks: Chiefs -9.5

Raiders Chargers Betting – Sunday, 4:05 PM ET

The Chargers are 13-point favorites for a couple of reasons: they’re at home, where they’ve been so good all season, and the Raiders haven’t won in San Diego since 2002, a span of seven games. The Chargers are rolling right now, too, which is scary for the rest of the AFC West.

NFL Picks: Chargers -13

Steelers Ravens Betting – Sunday, 4:15 PM ET

The Steelers are 3-point underdogs in Baltimore, and this game is for the lead in the AFC North. The Ravens can’t beat Ben Roethlisberger, who has won his last five against the Ravens, and we’re going to make it six in a row.

NFL Picks: Steelers +3

Jets Patriots Betting – Monday, 8:30 PM ET

The Jets come into this AFC East showdown as 3.5-point underdogs, but they haven’t failed to cover in three divisional games yet, and the Patriots’offense is due for a letdown. This is one of the toughest online sports betting picks of the week to make.

NFL Picks: Jets +3.5

NFL betting players are always looking for an edge when it comes to their odds, and underdogs are a good way to win against the spread. Here are the top five underdogs so far this year.

Kansas City- Heading into Week 10, the Chiefs are 4-1 ATS as an underdog, due to a young team that is responding to good coaching. There may not be many more chances to take the Chiefs as underdogs, so do so when you can.

Baltimore- The Ravens are 2-0-1 as an underdog, but they’re dangerous because they’re a team that plays with a chip on their shoulder all the time. Give them an “us against the world” mentality, and you’re going to be in trouble.

Washington- The Redskins are doing their best to be a poor team, but there is too much talent to say they’re terrible. Washington is a resounding 5-1-1 as an underdog, and with their defense, you’re not likely to see them get blown out.

Detroit- The Lions are 5-1 as an underdog because of their last few seasons where they were laughingstocks. Their draft picks are starting to pan out, and you watch: the Lions could end up in the playoffs next year, so get in on the action while you can.

St. Louis- Everything about the Lions can be said about the Rams, who are 5-2 as an underdog. Sam Bradford is playing well above his status as a rookie, No.1 pick or not, but their improved defense is the reason why NFL betting players should lay an online sports bet on the Rams.

NFL betting players are just as into the fantasy game as they are to the real thing, and here is who we think are going to have a big week; hopefully, they’re on your team.

Peyton Manning, Indianapolis

Manning is going against Houston, and in Week 1, he was 40-of-57 for 433 yards and three touchdowns with no picks. In 17 career games against the Texans, Manning has a passer rating of 112.2 with 40 touchdowns and eight picks. We know Indy has a slew of injuries to their skill players, but we’re not betting against Manning, especially at home.

Dez Bryant, Dallas

Bryant caught just four passes for 54 yards against the Giants, but he had two scores in the fourth quarter, which means Jon Kitna, who replaces the injured Tony Romo, has faith in the rookie wideout that many think will be Dallas’ No.1 receiver sooner than you think. The Cowboys are going up against Jacksonville, who is 27th in the league against the pass.

New York Jets’ Defense

The Jets are coming off a bye and will be playing at home against Green Bay, who played a tough game against Minnesota on Sunday night. The Jets will be anxiously awaiting the Packers at home, and they should have cornerback Darrelle Revis healthy for the first time all season. He’ll want to put on a show against Charles Woodson, who won the Defensive Player of the Year away over Revis last season. The Packers are also banged up, which not only aids your fantasy picks, but your sports betting picks as well.

At this upcoming UFC odds event, we’ll see Matt Serra and Matt Hughes fight – two guys that have recovered from some serious surgeries. Brett Favre is apparently encouraged and might be going under the knife himself.

If I could place and online bet right now on whether Favre will play in 2009 or not, I would bet on ‘yes’.

Favre visited with Dr. James Andrews – the chief NFL medical expert – and we all know what that means. If he was staying retired, he wouldn’t have to do it. Since he’s not, he’s looking for ways to recover from his biceps injury.

It’s too early to care about the NFL season right now, especially with French Open betting and Indy 500 odds up on the board. Even so, it looks like Favre will be wearing purple and playing this season.

Other sporting events are taking center stage right now such as the French Open odds, UFC odds and Preakness odds and even though the NFL is quiet in the offseason, there is a huge story brewing in the NFL that is grabbing everyone’s attention: Brett Favre is coming back…or is he?

Favre was supposedly coming back after he set up some kind of a clandestine meeting with Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress. Then there were x-rays sent back and forth and now it seems unclear what is happening.

NFL betting fans, what do you think? Should Favre make another comeback?

It appears to be pretty serious now. Favre has met with Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress and he’s going to take the steps that he needs to take to recover from a torn biceps.

NFL betting fans know that Favre is over the hill but he’s better than what the Vikings have at quarterback. The NFC North has gone from being a terible division to know – with Favre, Jay Cutler and Matthew Stafford – could be very interesting.

There are many sporting that will be in the forefront more than the NFL this month, such as the French Open odds, UFC odds and Preakness odds, but there is a huge story brewing in the NFL:

Legendary quarterback, Brett Favre, is getting set to make his return to the sport. It sounds kind of crazy after two retirements and plenty of tears and plus, two ugly finishes to both the 2008 and 2007 season, but the Wranglers man isn’t ready to hang them up yet.

NFL betting fans might be getting tired of this act but the reality is that Favre is still an upgrade of Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels. He could make the Vikings a Super Bowl contender.

Stay tuned for more.

At this point, Kentucky Derby odds and boxing betting have been pushed to the background and NFL Draft betting is in the forefront.

One team that isn’t paying attention is the Buffalo Bills. Good work, guys. You trade your Pro Bowl left tackle, release Derrick Dockery, and don’t draft a tackle in a tackle-rich draft.

NFL betting fans have to be wondering how the Bills plan to protect their young quarterback, Trent Edwards, without a left tackle.  And if Edwards can’t get Terrell Owens the ball…sounds like a combustable situation.
